The Phone Call brings together, in rather quick fashion as newly-weds, an African American male and a Latina in a feel good love story set against a backdrop of a struggling family fun farm featuring llamas and monkeys. The Latina’s aspiring and outspoken college-age daughter from a previous marriage brings a sharpness to both conversations and family activities. Spoiler alert: the end is rather quirky.

After a successful career on Wall Street, an extended stint as a homeless shelter volunteer, and executive leadership of a rescue effort at a leading New York City youth agency, Bob turned his attention to education. He created the WKBJ Partnership, which provided seed capital for North Star Academy Charter School (later to evolve into Uncommon Schools) and which became the centerpiece of his life’s energies: directly assisting over 300 financially challenged young people to pursue their educational aspirations. As an outgrowth of Bob’s interaction with a great many Hispanic immigrants, he subsequently established the Hispanic Information Center.
